Il Movimento Internazionale della Riconciliazione, a partire dal mese di settembre, rilancia le sue storiche campagne di azione ed educazione per la nonviolenza. Nella sua ultima Assemblea Nazionale di aprile, infatti, aveva confermato quattro priorità programmatiche:
la promozione dell’obiezione di coscienza preventiva al servizio militare e alla guerra,
il lancio di un’iniziativa pubblica per un comune progetto ecopacifista,
la ripresa delle iniziative di educazione alla/per la pace e di contrasto alla militarizzazione delle istituzioni educative,
la riproposizione di azioni di opposizione agli armamenti nucleari, ma anche al rilancio del nucleare civile.
«Oltre a proseguire nelle attività svolte in questi mesi anche a livello territoriale – ha dichiarato il Presidente del MIR Italia, Ermete Ferraro – vogliamo concentrarci su queste campagne nazionali, ribadendo il nostro orientamento nonviolento, antimilitarista ed ecopacifista con iniziative formative ed azioni dirette, aderendo come sempre a coordinamenti e reti che possano creare sinergia su queste quattro priorità, nell’ottica di una più complessiva opposizione alle guerre e della indispensabile diffusione delle alternative per una difesa non armata, civile e nonviolenta ».Oltre a partecipare nelle varie città in cui il MIR è presente ed attivo a regolari presìdi e manifestazioni per la pace e in difesa della libertà e autonomia del popolo palestinese, dunque, il MIR Italia si rivolgerà ai giovani, per invitarli a dichiararsi preventivamente obiettori di coscienza ed a contrastare dal basso e in prima persona – insieme coi loro docenti – i processi di militarizzazione della scuola e dell’università.
È inoltre prevista nei prossimi mesi l’organizzazione di un incontro nazionale delle associazioni pacifiste ed ambientaliste che sottoscrivano un manifesto ecopacifista e s’impegnino a portare avanti iniziative comuni e coordinate in questa direzione.
Un ulteriore ambito d’intervento – connesso alla natura stessa del MIR, nato come movimento a base spirituale ed interreligiosa – prevede la sua partecipazione ad iniziative ecumeniche di promozione della pace e della nonviolenza attiva, affiancando le associazioni di matrice religiosa già impegnate nel trinomio “giustizia, pace e salvaguardia del creato”.

With the MIR, to combine peace, environment and human rights
The International Movement for Reconciliation, starting in September, re-launches its historic campaigns of action and education for nonviolence. At its last National Assembly in April, it had confirmed four policy priorities:
the promotion of conscientious objection to military service and war,
the launch of a public initiative for a common eco-peace project,
the resumption of education initiatives at/for peace, to counter the militariza-tion of educational institutions,
the renewal of actions to oppose nuclear weapons, but also to relaunch civi-lian nuclear power.
“In addition to continuing the activities carried out in these months also at territorial level- said the President of MIR Italy, Ermete Ferraro – we want to fo-cus on these national campaigns, reaffirming our nonviolent orientation, antimilitarist and ecopacifistawith training initiatives and direct ac-tions, adhering as always to coordination and networks that can create synergy on these four priorities, in view of a more compre-hensive opposition to wars and the indispensable dissemination of alternatives for a non-armed, civil and nonviolent defense”.In addition to participating in the various cities where the MIR is present and active at regular presìdi and demonstrations for peace and in defense of the freedom and autonomy of the Palestinian people, therefore, the MIR Italy will address young people, to invite them to declare themselves beforehand as conscientious objectors and to oppose from below and in first person – together with their teachers – the processes of militarisa-tion of school and university.
It is also planned in the coming months to organize a national meeting of the pacifist and environmentalist associations that sign an ecopacifist manifesto and commit themselves to carry out common and coordinated initiatives in this direc-tion.
A further field of intervention – related to the very nature of the MIR, born as a movement with spiritual and interreligious basis – provides for its participation in ecumenical initiatives to promote peace and active nonviolen-ce, Supporting religious associations already engaged in the trinomial “justice , peace and safeguard of creation”.
